Stuff I've been messing around with...
|

I've been working on some children's books on and off. Here's an idea I'm goofing around with called Socks Can Draw. You just click on the pictures to advance to the next page. It's just sketches right now and I don't have a publisher yet.
I'm also working on another series of little books for pre-schoolers that I call Sam Sam Books. They're sweet and I like them but I haven't tried to get them published yet either. You can see that stuff here.

< Back to my self-indulgent stuff
As if anyone cares at all, here's lists of stuff I'm into right now, just to prove once and for all how boring I really am.
What I'm reading:
Fnished - A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. This dork can really write, I tell ya! I just finished this book for the second time.
Just finished - Blink, by Malcolm Gladwell - amazing book, a must read.
Also - The World is Flat, by Thomas Friedman - a real eye opener.
What's in my car CD player (holds six)
1776, anabridged CD - by David McCullough. Ten discs of history
Thievery Corporation, Babylon Rewound - Some excellent cuts and I'm sticking.
Public Enemy, Fear of a Black Planet - Old school at it's best.
The Hives, Tyrannosaurus Hives - I can't help it. These Sweeds definately rock.
Portishead, Dummy - Great soundtrack music for spooky mountain roads.
Jimmy Hendrix, Are You Experienced - borrowed this classic from my 13 year old son, John.
What I just took out of my car CD player
Chemical Brothers, Brother's Gonna Work it Out - Pulled this one out of the archives again but now I've put it away, maybe for the last time.
Radio Head, OK Computer - I love it, my kids hate it - they won.
Franz Ferdinand, self titled - I saw these dudes in England before they showed up everywhere - and they rocked - now I'm over it.
The Strokes, Room On Fire - It belonged to my daughter and she took it back. Wah!
What I'm Looking At
The Mischivious Art of Jim Flora, by Irwin Chusid - Inspired beatnik cool. Retro before retro knew it was retro.
Skate Crazy, by Lou Brooks - Visual candy land from skate rinks of the past. Lou Rules.
What's on my TV
West Wing Re-runs on Bravo at lunch-time. That's about it.
West Wing on sunday nights, NBC.
What I'm doing in my spare time
I'm writing a novel, called Old Dad. Here's the first chapter. It might be awful, I'm not sure and don't know if I even care or not.
Trying to paint,
What I'm cooking
I've decided to let limes do my cooking for me, for a while, and eat ceviche for every meal lately.
3 limes, juiced.
Fish - snapper, bay scallops, shrimp
red bell pepper, chopped finely
red onion, chopped up real good
Mix it all together and let it sit for an hour. Serve on Premium Saltine Crackers.
Also - lots of salad with goat cheese is good.
Coffee.
